Travel or tourist
visas
Australia has entry visas for persons
coming to Australia for holidays, to visit friends or
relatives or for very short term study.
These visas cater for both
short term stay (up to 3 months) or long term stay (up
to 6 months stay).
Depending on what
country you are applying from there are several ways to apply
for a tourist visa including
If you hold a passport which is not in the list of ETA
countries (please visit link) then you will
most likely be required to lodge a paper visa
application. There are various exceptions to this
such as a returning Australian citizen (automatic right of
entry even without passport) or NZ citizen (Special Category
Visa granted on entry). There are many other exceptions
such as military personnel on official orders, operational
& positioning aircrew. If you are not in one of
these rare exceptions you need a registered migration
agent to assist with your paper visa application.
A migration agent is prohibited from guaranteeing any visa
outcome however they are trained to know what you must provide
as a minimum in order to prove you intend a genuine visit and
to prove you will depart Australia at the end of your
stay.
If you do not intend a genuine visit to Australia then you
should not apply for a tourist visa. |
